CH Sans Gene K Malala VEEV 89 (2019)
dob: 5/7/2016 Sire: Poppy Patch HB Evel Knievel VEE 90 +B Dam: Sans Gene GT Hermione 2*M EEEV 90 show record: 1tx first, Jr Grand Champion, SWDGA 2017 1 tx Gr Champion Doe 2019 (one ring show) 1 tx Gr Champion Doe 2021 (first ring, 120+ Sr does) Malala is full sister to SGCH Sans Gene K Cookies and Cream 3*M EEEE 91 FS, who also milked 1070#, with 56# butterfat and 41# protein in 239 days on her 5th freshening. Cookie went on to have high milk test of 7.2# on her 6th freshening, and 8.2# on her 7th! Malala looks just like her, down to that crazy spotted coat, and showing indications of similar milking ability. Malala was only shown once in 2019, and handily earned her first milking leg. She was not shown again until May 2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Her first show out in almost 2 years was a HUGE show with 126 senior Nigerian does, and as a 5 year old "aged" doe, Malala took Grand Champion in the first ring. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of her! Malala passes on her calm disposition, fabulous flat, wide, long rump (deemed "exceptional" by a senior appraiser), and that lovely, milky mammary to her offspring. |

Flicker is my little white shadow - she follows me everywhere, even sneaking out of her pen to "help" me with chores. She's a visitor favorite, endearing herself immediately to everyone she meets - more than once someone has threatened to sneak her home in the trunk. Wonderfully angular, feminine and dairy, looking much like a tiny Saanen - and this little doe wants to milk like one, too. As a 3rd freshener, she produced 4-5 5lbs a day when milked twice a day. Milking once a day halfway through her lactation, she milked a steady quart daily as a 5th freshener.
Flicker's udder is exceptional. Very capacious with broad overall area of attachment, excellent fore and medial, nice teats and placement, and milks out completely. She often won best udder in class even if she wasn't in first place, and won Best Udder in Breed over 37 entries as a 2 year old. As a 3yr old she blossomed - and in a big way! Her first show that year with over 40 milking does entered, she easily won Grand Champion in all 3 rings. Later that summer she appraised Excellent FS 90 on linear appraisal with E for mammary, as well as at 5 for her permanent score.
Her sire has both his permanent champion title and Superior Genetics designation. He has produced two permanent champion does to date, one of which (Pholia Farm HB Angelica) has already earned a Superior Genetics designation. Her dam, Pholia Farm DB Honeycomb, has a wonderfully attached and productive udder, and did well on the milking string for Pholia Farm, a Grade A creamery. Honeycomb has her milking star and Superior Genetics as well.

Zydeco has her mother Lucy's refinement, clean long bone pattern, strong feet and legs, and long stretchy neck. From her sire, K, she was gifted with greater width and spring of rib, and a bit more levelness hip to pins. Like both sire and dam, she has great depth and length of body and a nice, strong brisket. My favorite thing about Zydeco though, is her sweet, loving, and slightly-mischievous personality.
Zydeco's udder is high and snug with plumb teats, great height and width of rear attachment, and a smoothly blended foreudder. She has fantastic orifices - milk just streams out. She easily produces in the 4-5 lb range during peak production. Zydeco easily sustained an extended lactation (more than 10 months) on once a day milking.
Zydeco has been a formidable competitor in the show ring. She won her first 2 legs over 50 senior does - a couple of which stood in the top 10 at nationals later that year. She finished at the next show in the first ring. In the next ring we showed her milked out since she was now finished - and she took first place and best udder in her class of over 15+ does, under judge Jennifer Bice.

Hermione, always a beautiful kid, grew up to be a gorgeous doe. She has all of her mother's good traits; great depth and width of body, lovely general appearance, straight legs, good feet. Her sire also gifted her with improvement in length and sharpness over the withers, buttery-soft udder texture and longer teats. Hermione has THE kind of rump we are looking for: wide and level from hips to pins and thurl to thurl. Her final score on linear appraisal was EEEV 90 - "Excellent", with an Excellent for rump structure! Better yet, she passes on that lovely rump onto her kids. Hermione is a strong milker, who seems to just get better each year.

She is a correct, well balanced doe. Now an aged doe, Serenity is as correct and sound as she was at 3, and milks just as well. Serenity's super power is her will to milk on once a day, with little or no grain. Multiple times I started to dry her off, changed my mind a couple weeks later, and in no time she was back milking same as before. She also has proven to pass on those sound, correct, structural dairy traits and super wanna milk genes, as evidenced by Sans Gene K Bluebelle, owned by Eagle Meadows Farm, who milked 900lbs with 50 lbs butterfat and 37lbs protein, in only 256 days. |

I am beyond pleased to have the opportunity to bring this powerhouse milker doe back home. She peaked just shy of 6lbs on her last lactation. Princess is an eye catching doe, with her regal bearing and bright calico coat. She has nice depth at the elbow and point of rib, but she isn't quite wide enough for her very capacious mammary. So although her attachments are actually quite good, there isn't quite enough room for it under her, so it gets pushed forward on her body. Fortunately, she is able to walk around it reasonable well, and we are careful during peak lactation to not let her get too full so she stays comfortable. As our herd runs to wide and strong, we are confident her offspring will have that extra bit of width needed for royal-sized mammaries. |

She is a combination strength and refinement. "Cissy" showed well as a dry yearling. She placed 2nd behind Sans Gene Black Eyed Susan (who went Res Jr Champion) in a 'uuuuge yearling class of over 20 entries. As a first freshening 2 year old, Cissy did us proud by placing well against 2nd freshening does, and earned high marks and positive comments at linear appraisal. At our last show of the year, she went out with a bang, winning Reserve Senior Champion. |

Perhaps we should start with her barn name, "BG", short for Broken Goat. She earned that moniker as a 6 week old kid, when she severely fractured her hind leg. The break was a bad one, requiring, 4 pins and 2 external rods. BG was a model patient, and healed well. So well, in fact, we got the green light - even encouragement - to let her kid as a long yearling. A very calm and social goat, we decided to take her to one show, even though she was bred. She was happier going to the show than staying home without her herdmates. To our great surprise, BG won Jr Grand Champion in a big Junior Nigerian show. We were elated! And then, she went on to win Best Jr Doe in show, over more than 150 entries, including some nationally prominent "big goat" herds! You'd think that would be accomplishment enough, but our little BG is an overachiever. She kidded triplets easily on her first kidding - and then had QUINTS on her second- all perfect nose & toe presentation, normal sized, and raised them all herself! She went on to obtain a very respectable linear appraisal score as a 2 year old after all of that, being milked once a day and during a horrible heat wave (she had almost no milk that day, sadly, affecting her udder score). BG then kidded with SEXTUPLETS her next kidding, showing no lameness or metabolic issues at all, and needing only normal pre-natal care for all of her pregnancies. Unfortunately that kidding did not go quite as well, and two couldn't be gotten out in time, getting tangled in double placentas, and they were all typical sized kids - 2.6, 3.5, and two were just over 4#. She raised them all up, went to one show where she came in 2nd behind Malala (who won Gr Ch at that show), and then we gave her a year off. BG looks better than ever at 5 years old, and might even be expecting kids from Drifter in late July, 2021. We hope so, she has blossomed into the strong, wide, dairy doe with the front end, back end, and mammary we strive for, containing the sweetest disposition we could hope for. She is still BG - for Best Goat ever. |

Nothing about her personality is pint-sized though - she makes sure you WILL notice her, in the most charming way imaginable. Her udder is snugly attached with tremendous capacity including an exemplary foreudder. Fly milked so hard on her 2nd freshening it was challenging to keep her weight up - Fly doesn't do anything halfway! Her last lactation, after serious surgery (noted below), Fly milked 4+ pounds a day ...and continued to hold at 3+ lbs... milked once a day. We nearly lost Fly in a horrific kidding in 2016. Fly pulled through, but we lost the kids and any hope of ever breeding Fly again. She is perhaps my best milker, and I am grateful to have her son and her two daughters in the herd. A much beloved member of the family, she will remain here, as Chief Officer Supervising All Farm Activities Which Might Involve Food. |
